Making Ugg Foods feel paleo-terrific

The clever video marketing folk at Tanglewood approached me late last year to write an online video script promoting their client Ugg Foods, purveyors of paleo-terrific treats. The starting point was a homage to the Dollar Shave Club phenomenon, but after spending a bit of time with the brief (including watching a couple of YouTube videos of the star of the show, George Anderson), I started writing something a bit more primal.

Joy of joys, the blessed brave Uggers didn’t take a single joke out of the script, then proceeded to hurl themselves into it with full-throttle gusto on filming day. I went along to hang around and meddle, wound up with a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it part and had a big load of fun in the process.

The end result went live last week and has picked up over 6,000 views in its first 5 days. Pretty impressive for a company whose biggest previous video hit had struggled to break 500 views.
